WattSimple uses affiliate links. Where a product link on this site is an affiliate link, we may earn a commission from the retailer if you buy through it. The price you pay is exactly the same either way, and pages carrying a paid link say so on the page itself. Links that earn us nothing — including links straight to a manufacturer — carry no such notice.
Why we tell you this
The US Federal Trade Commission requires clear disclosure of material connections between a publisher and the products it recommends. A commission is a material connection, so we disclose it on every page that carries a paid link — above the first link, not buried at the bottom.
What this does not change
- We do not sell placements. No manufacturer can pay to appear on this site, to rank higher, or to have a criticism removed.
- We publish the downsides.Every product write-up states who should not buy it. If the honest answer is “you probably don't need this”, that is what it says.
- We do not invent ratings.We publish no star ratings, no review counts, and no testimonials, because we have not run controlled tests of these products. Specifications come from the manufacturer's published spec sheet and should be re-checked before you buy, since manufacturers revise models without renaming them.
- Calculators are unaffected. The math in our calculators follows published standards and public data. No commercial relationship influences a result.

Where a product is available on Amazon, our link may be an Amazon Associates link. We may also link directly to a manufacturer, and some of those links are tracked by the manufacturer's own affiliate program. Links that earn us nothing are used freely wherever they are the most useful destination for you.
