Used EV values vary far more between models than gas car values do. Some hold up strongly; others fall faster than a comparable combustion car. Understanding why tells you both what to buy and how to protect what you own.

Program terms change, so this is a moving background factor rather than a stable one. How do you protect EV resale value?

Document the battery. A recent state-of-health report is the highest-leverage document you can produce. It directly attacks the largest source of buyer discount.

Keep every record. Service history, completed recalls, warranty work, tire replacements, brake fluid service. Organized records signal a cared-for car and answer questions before they're asked.

Keep the accessories. The original portable charging cable, any supplied adapters, both key fobs, the owner's documentation. These cost a buyer real money to replace and their absence is an immediate deduction.
