Amp Hours to kWh Calculator

Convert battery amp-hours to kWh — and back — at any pack voltage. WattSimple goes past the nameplate number to show usable energy after depth of discharge and efficiency, plus runtime for a load you choose.

Convert

Nominal energy

1.2 kWh

Capacity
100 Ah
Usable energy
0.91 kWh

Nominal kWh = Ah × volts ÷ 1,000. Usable energy applies your depth of discharge and efficiency — what you actually get out. Lead-acid is typically ~50% DoD; lithium (LiFePO₄) often 80–100%.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply amp-hours by the battery's voltage, then divide by 1,000: kWh = Ah × V ÷ 1,000. For example, a 100 Ah battery at 12V is 1.2 kWh nominal. Usable energy is lower once you account for depth of discharge and efficiency.
