What's good
- The Vue 3 monitor and CTs are included — on the Classic they are a separate purchase
- PowerSmart is the documented way to add 48-amp charging to a panel with no spare capacity
- Same NEMA 4 enclosure and 25 ft cable as the Classic
What's not
- Costs meaningfully more than the Classic — only worth it if your load calculation is actually tight
- The CTs must be installed in the panel, which means an electrician is in the job either way
- App account required for the smart features
Our verdict
Buy this instead of the Classic when your load calculation says you have no room. Run the numbers first: if the home electrical load calculator leaves clear headroom for a 60-amp circuit, the Classic does the same charging for less. If it doesn't, PowerSmart is far cheaper than a service upgrade — and the Pro is the version that ships with the parts that make it work.
