Home Energy Score & Bill Estimator

Answer a few quick questions about your home — state, size, heating fuel, AC, people, and whether you charge an EV — and get an estimated monthly electricity bill, a 0–100 energy score versus similar homes, a breakdown of where your electricity goes, and three ways to bring it down. A free instant estimate, no sign-up.

Most utilities show your monthly kWh online or on the bill. With it, the score compares your real usage to similar homes — the same idea as the ENERGY STAR Home Energy Yardstick.

A screening estimate from EIA RECS regional averages — not your meter, and not the official DOE Home Energy Score (that needs an in-person assessor). The score reflects your home's electricity use vs similar-size homes in your region; homes that heat with gas or oil draw less electricity and score higher. Verify against your actual bill.

Frequently asked questions

We estimate your home's annual electricity use from your answers (state, size, heating fuel, AC, occupants, EV) using EIA Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) regional averages, then compare it to what a similar-size home in your census region typically uses. Using less than that benchmark scores higher (closer to 100); using more scores lower. The score reflects electricity drawn from the grid, so a home that heats or heats water with gas or oil naturally uses less electricity and scores higher.
